Abstract

SPANISH: Se observo el Cementerio General de Iquitos su historia nos indica que el año 1894, el alcalde Carlos Mouraille, presenta un documento a la Junta Departamental solicitando la construcción de un nuevo cementerio porque el actual ya se encontraba en medio de la ciudad; al siguiente año, el nuevo alcalde Pedro Márquez enfatiza y delega al Inspector de Obras del Concejo, formular un plano del nuevo cementerio. Así de esta manera, se da origen a nuestro Cementerio General «San Miguel Arcángel» del siglo XIX, sin dejar de mencionar la importancia que tuvo en el desarrollo social de los habitantes, la elegancia de la arquitectura, las refinadas lápidas, el glamour de las familias bien posicionadas se muestran en los mausoleos con acabados de mármol y azulejos traídos de Europa, los epitafios que honran de modo positivo a los difuntos que nos hablan sobre la vida, la muerte y la ausencia. Todos estos acabados nos permiten acercarnos a un momento de la creación y composición de los habitantes que nos muestra a Iquitos de esa época como una ciudad cosmopolita. La construcción del Cementerio General se dio para párvulos y adultos en nichos y tierra, un pabellón para la Administración, un pabellón para depósito y una Capilla que alzaba las torres paralelas como dedos de una gigantesca mano que invoca la piedad de los cielos; en la parte baja, los aleros de la resignación ondulante simulan las aguas de los ríos y del tiempo. También hay que señalar que hasta la fecha se conserva un Cementerio Israelí, quienes originalmente son sefardíes o sefarditas que se desplazan desde Marruecos hasta Iquitos, también hay un espacio para ingleses trabajadores o hijos de la Booth Line o de la Factoría, alemanes, portugueses, chinos, españoles, italianos, franceses.<br><br>ENGLISH: The General Cemetery of Iquitos was observed.
